ONEX LOGISTICS AND CELIGAL SIGN COOPERATION AGREEMENT

ONEX Logistics and the law firm CELIGAL have officially signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to promote the business activities of both parties.

According to the contents of the cooperation MOU recently signed by the leadership of the two companies, ONEX Logistics and CELIGAL will introduce each other’s products and services to partners as well as through each party’s media channels. The objective of this cooperation is to enhance mutual benefits and provide optimal support for the business operations of both parties’ clients.

Mr. Võ Thanh Tú, Chief Executive Officer of ONEX Logistics, stated that cooperation with CELIGAL will help ONEX Logistics’ customers protect their lawful rights and interests when disputes arise with related parties.

According to Mr. Tú, Vietnamese enterprises in general, and logistics service providers in particular, are often in a disadvantaged position when legal disputes arise with foreign partners, especially shipping lines, due to differences in legal systems across countries as well as language barriers. When dealing with freight forwarders, shipping lines often include and require commitments to contractual clauses in bills of lading that bind cargo owners to bear all liabilities arising from any incidents. However, these clauses are often intertwined and overlapping.

Similarly, in customs declaration procedures, it is not uncommon for enterprises and customs officials to have differing interpretations and applications of legal regulations, leading to disagreements—particularly regarding the classification of goods under HS codes and customs valuation for tax purposes.

“In such situations, I have always wished for a law firm with in-depth understanding of the industry to stand with us and protect the legitimate rights and interests of the parties involved,” Mr. Tú shared.
